Aleksandar Georgiev Wins PokerListings Event

Aleksandar Georgiev Wins PokerListings Event

There were four tournaments that started and ended on Saturday 9th June, but sadly the winners of three of them have chosen to remain anonymous. To be fair, that’s not such a bad thing because it means I can spend more time in this report waxing lyrically about the one brave soul not afraid to reveal his identity.

€250 PokerListing 30K Texas NL

The winner was my friend (and sometimes reporting colleague) Aleksandar Georgiev from Bulgaria, who put on a great display of poker prowess in taking down the €250 PokerListing 30K Texas NL (and yes this tournament could indeed have had a more catchy name, such as PokerListings Cup).

It was by far the busiest of the side events this week, with 214 entries, creating a prize pool of over €45,000. With 5 tables left Aleksandar had already built a stack of over 500,000 and was the chip leader. He took a few hits and returned to just over average stack territory, but resumed the lead on the final table and took the most in a five way-deal. After dealing they played on Aleks took the title!

I worked with Aleksandar at the recent Battle of Malta event and he played in a couple of side events after finishing his reporting shifts. In both of those he was the trailblazer, leading the way as the big stack, but bubbled in both of them. It is great to see him consign those bad memories to the poker dustbin and kick on for the win here! Well played sir!

Festival Queens

The Festival Queens ladies event was undoubtedly the best smelling tournament of the Festival Series. It was also one of the funnest, with lots of laughter abounding throughout. There was another friend of mine on this one, Lynn Beaumont from the UK, who I have known since the pre-GUKPT days in the mid 2000s, when she was a regular on the Grosvenor Festival circuit and later on the GUKPT itself, my first poker tour baby.

This was Lynn’s first visit to Kings Casino and she has been crushing the satellites, only to get crushed in the events themselves. However on this occasion she was the one doing the crushing for most of the tournament. She lost a few big pots just as they made it to the final, but regrouped to take it the wire, ending up in second place. Nice Work Lynn!

Congratulations to Mrs Devil, who won the event.

€1,100 PLO High Roller & €125 Saturday PLO Turbo Midnight Madness

The PLO High Roller had 30 entries and was won by Italian B.S for €10,000. The Saturday PLO Turbo Midnight Madness was won by Optimus Prime. As the players chose to remain anonymous, there's not much I can say about them, apart from well done...and next time, perhaps be bold, be proud, don't be afraid to reveal your names in future and we will write a nice piece about you.

Results of all these events can be found on The Festival in Rozvadov Results Page.
