Eirik Presttun is the Mixed Games Main Event Champion
Eirik Presttun from Norway is the Festival in Malta H.O.R.S.E.S Mixed Games Main Event Champion! He claimed the title after defeating German Mattia Rubenstrunk after a short heads-up battle.
A deal was done when they were four-handed on the final table and the players left €500 to play on for, plus the title. Eirik ended up taking home €5,895, marginally more than the runner-up, who had held the chip lead when the deal was done.
Bulgarian Lachezar Tsenov was the first player to be eliminated after the deal and after collecting his winnings of just over €5,000, he jumped straight into the Tuesday Madness NLH Turbo event, one of the recent additions to the schedule this afternoon.
After Dutch player Ruud Alsmegeest busted in third, Eirik and Mattia were left heads up, but took less than half a dozen hands before the final hand played out.
The final hand was a Razz hand with Eirik holding A 3 4 5 6 versus Mattia’s 2 3 4 5 8 .
Eirik went into the final day as a massive chip leader and soon extended it further. By the time there were 10 players left he had amassed 40% of the chips in play. However once the final table started the gap closed and the eventual final four all had very similar sized stacks by the time the bubble burst.
Barrie Dear from the UK was the unfortunate bubble boy. He had won the Sviten Special on Monday and was just denied his second cash of the week.
After claiming the title, Eirik spoke to Vaclav 'Lemon.’ To hear what he said about his win, click on the image below, which will take you to The Festival’s Instagram page.
