The Festival Series & Vamos Poker Tour Go Back to Back in Malta

The Festival Series and Vamos Poker Tour go back-to-back in Malta this September, sharing their first and last days at Portomaso Casino for a unique coming together of two much-loved poker festivals.
The Festival Series returns to Malta from 8-15 September, for an action packed schedule of poker tournaments, gaming events and off-the table fun. It all starts on September 8th, which is also the last day of the the Vamos Poker Tour, concluding its first ever event in Malta.
The Vamos Poker Tour is a series of low-medium buy-in tournaments that take place several times per year in locations around Europe, including stops in Italy, Malta, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Cyprus and Portugal. Founded by Spaniard Francisco “Kikuxo” Fernandez, the Vamos Poker Tour Malta, from 4-8 September, features a €350 Main Event, a €400 Pot Limit Omaha Championship and a €250 Mystery Bounty as its key events, as well as a €700 NLH High Roller.
The combining of schedules on Sunday 8th presents a great opportunity for the player bases of both tours to experience the offerings of the other. While the Festival Series’ customers are mainly from Scandinavia and northern Europe, Vamos Poker Tour regulars tend to be from Spain and other countries in Southern Europe. Both tours include a variety of affordable poker tournaments in both Hold’em and non-Hold’em formats. Just what the doctor ordered, poker as it should be!

Tournament Schedule for Sunday 8th September
With elements from both tours included, Sunday the 8th delivers a smorgasbord of poker, with a tapas of tasty events for all players to feast on.
The event schedule for The Festival in Malta includes all the established favourites that the series has become famous for. The opening Sunday sees the start of the €550 Mixed Games Main Event and The Hendon Mob Championship, with a €250 buy-in. The €550 Mixed Games Main Event is run using a H.O.R.S.E.S format, which adds Sviten Special as the extra S to the usual H.O.R.S.E rotation.
The last day of the Vamos Poker Tour features a €250 Mystery Bounty, which has its final starting flight as well as its final day. Additionally, the tour’s €350 Main Event reaches its conclusion on Sunday 8th September. Also being staged on the final day of the Vamos Poker Tour Malta is a Festival Series favourite, Open Face Chinese.
While there are two Open Face Chinese poker tournaments later in the week on The Festival Series schedule, the €250 OFC on Sunday, which is the closing event of the Vamos Poker Tour, provides a good reason for mixed game player to arrive early at The Festival in Malta
The Festival's Franke v Vamos' Francisco
The founders of both tours are both keen poker players themselves and are looking forward to a possible encounter at the tables. Commenting on who would prevail if they do clash on the Portomaso felt, Fernandez joked:
“From what I’ve heard, Franke is a fish, so it will be an easy win for Spain and I’ll probably hit the back of the Zweigbergk net a few times”
Egged on by the challenge, Franke laughed and responded:
“That’s what everyone thinks, but they soon regret it when they’re headed to the cash desk to rebuy.”
